Murat Yildirim had a one on one question and answer session at ODTU a
University in Ankara Turkey. I am translating the answers he gave. This
information was posted on another website by some of the attendees of
this function.
He was dressed in a simple black t-shirt, extremely humble and modest.
...I
know that people are asking what other projects I have in the works.
While doing Asi I also filmed a movie Guz Sancisi, and doing both
projects at the same time was very difficult. However, since Ask ve Ceza
ends in June of this year, I do have a movie project that I will be
starting sometime this summer.
When he was asked which project
was the most memorable for him he of course said Firtina, as that is
were he met his wife, and you could see his emotions and the light in
his eyes as he discussed this.
Discussing the changes in the
screenplay writers, the person asking the question mentioned that the
viewers we at one point upset with the way the story was heading; he
mentioned that he had some difficulties with the them as well, but did
say that the episodes of terrorism, are over and that they are back to
the regular storyline.
He was asked about a rumor that both he
and Nurgul Yesilcay would be performing together in an upcoming movie.
He said that this was not true.
He was asked if he and his wife
planned a family since in every series he plays a father and seems to be
so good at it, he said that he and his wife were planning on starting a
family within the next 2 years. A family is not a family without
children. And laughing asked the audience so what should we name our
child. He spoke lovingly and happily about his family, his youth, and
especially his parents. His own father was a teacher and was actually
his teacher in the 5th grade. He drove to this interview with 2 other
friends. He has a movie planned for the summer and plans on some theatre
work as well in the future. He would like to work together with his
wife. These series are hard work, they work 6 days a week and very long
hours. At the same time he did mention that the episode that was
supposedly Iran was actually taped in Istanbul. This view thought that
he looked thin, and he mentioned that while taping an episode recently
he felt very drained, and while the episode required happiness and
laughter he thinks because he was so drained he did not perform
properly.
He told a story about being at the airport, and the
security guard telling him that this must be a travel day for
celebrities. When Murat asked who was he talking about, the guard
mentioned someone names Adrian (the writer could remember the last name
of the celebrity). Murat explains how he was like a typical fan, excited
and wanted to know which way Adrian went. He sent a text to his wife to
write him some conversation in English so he could speak with this
person. His English apparently is not good. By the time she sent the
text back, Murat was already speaking with Adrain and insisted on having
his photo taken, passers by noticed Murat Yildirim and recognized him
from Asi, and wanted their photos taken as well. The entire hall
including Murat burst into laughter as he discussed being and acting
like a fan.
He was asked if he is anything like his
characters….are you a nervous person, he said absolutely not. Are you a
person who puts pride ahead of love like the character in Asi, and he
said with a smile “pride cannot be put ahead of love”. He was asked what
difficulties he has had in filming a series, and he mentioned a
motorcycle accident while filming the movie Guz Sancisi.
He was
happy to do this interview at the University and said it reminded him of
his youth. He took the time and posed for pictures with his fans before
leaving.
